Paper and boards are as diverse as the applications for which it is to be used. Graphic designers would specify the paper or board to be used for print, die cutting and finishing. It is what drives the print, publishing and packaging industries.
Paper is divided into coated and uncoated paper. With printing processes as diverse as letterpress, Lithography, Rotogravure and the various digital processes all require very different paper. To try to write a post on paper is like trying to print a Bible onto a postage stamp, which has actually been done.
