An admixture is an additional material which is added to the cement mix of cement, aggregate and water. The reason for using an admixture varies; extending the curing time, improving the workability, even adding colour, etc.
One of the common uses is air entrainment agents, which is a soaplike substance that produces microscopic bubbles or voids in the cement mixture. This improves the workability.
Latex polymers improve moisture resistance, durability, workability, hardness and flexibility.
